Lemos’s fresh perspective and recent research make this course not just a learning tool, but a formidable weapon in your 1.e4 arsenal.

Don’t miss this opportunity to arm yourself with White’s latest secret weapon, straight from the mind of a Grandmaster.

Is the Evans Gambit For You?

As you already probably know, the Evans Gambit is part of the Italian Opening.

The Evans Gambit happens after the moves 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.b4

At this point, instead of castling, which is the main line, white prefers to go for the Evans Gambit with 4.b4

The main idea of the Evans Gambit is that white sacrifices a pawn in exchange for the initiative in the opening.

White should not worry too much about the pawn. The main focus is in developing the pieces quickly and try to attack on the kingside while the king is still on the center of the board.

The move b4 also allows the bishop on c4 to go to b3 if needed, and the dark-squared bishop can be developed via b2.

The main line after white plays 4.b4 is 4…Bxb4, accepting the gambit.

This is the line that GM Lemos recommends and teaches you in this course.

The three other acceptable fourth moves for black are 4…Bb6, 4…Be7, and 4…d5.
