Fabiano Luigi Caruana, an Italian-American chess grandmaster, has a peak rating of 2844, making him the third-highest-rated player in history.
Born in Miami to Italian parents, Caruana became a Grandmaster at the age of 14. He has had a successful career, winning multiple Italian and US Chess Championships.
In 2018, Caruana became the first American challenger for the World Chess Championship since Bobby Fischer in 1972. Although he narrowly missed the title, losing to Magnus Carlsen in the rapid tiebreaks, Caruana continued to shine in various tournaments and events.
In 2023, he secured victories in prestigious tournaments like the Superbet Chess Classic, Sinquefield Cup, and the Grand Chess Tour, solidifying his status as one of the world's top players, and qualified for the Candidates Tournament 2024.
